Best Western Plus Suites Hotel Coronado Island

Although the hotel is very dated (new carpets and drapes would transform it!), the rooms are large and well equipped, and the location is fantastic for exploring Coronado. We loved the courtyard in the centre for pre-dinner meet ups and drinks as we were a group of work colleagues staying 4 nights. The complimentary breakfast was great with different hot options each day, most with a Mexican influence. Lots of drinks and snacks available.

I drove directly to this hotel from Las Vegas. After 7 hours of traffic, all I wanted was to lay my head down, take a shower and meet friends for dinner. However, check in was beyond terrible! My daughter and I arrived 2 hours after check in, but the rude young man at the counter told me there was “no telling” when our room would be ready. I waited patiently for an hour and then started asking questions due to my impatience. The check in person grew more hostile towards me, yet somehow “found” an available room. If he wasn’t so fixated with getting back to his cell phone, he may have been more available to find this room sooner and not be so dismissive of his customers requests. I’ve written emails 3 times, which is where he told me to submit complaints, and I’ve yet to get a response. Thank goodness, the rest of the vacation was great. This place has the best breakfast I’ve ever had at this price point and the rooms were large and comfortable. The room service attendants were quite friendly and welcoming. I also loved the location, which was walking distance to the Bay and Ferry service. Get that check in guy some customer service training! Keep up the great work everyone else!!

Rough stay. Coronado is beautiful, obviously. But this was some substandard stuff for such a beautiful setting. The room was mediocre, had nothing but cinnamon flavored coffee and decaf. The worst part: a cricket. Somewhere in the walls was a cricket that just WOULD NOT stop. The staff were notified of the situation at about 930pm and did… probably nothing at all. They never called back or knocked. I got zero follow up. Thus, the cricket continued. The place was booked out and I couldn’t move rooms and got almost no sleep; which is the whole point of a hotel room. The breakfast was very bad, also. But they had regular coffee. So not all was lost. Never staying here again, tho. Not good.

It was very disappointing, both my wife and I tested positive for Covid the day before and we called to see if we could reschedule our reservation for a future date, we were ok paying any price difference. The hotel refused to work with us. We were able to easily modify our flight and car reservations, just not the hotel. Very disappointing that we lose our money this way and the hotel isn't willing to reschedule us for a future date. The night receptionist suggested we call in the morning when the supervisor was available, the morning receptionist refused to connect us with the supervisor saying the reservation could not be changed by anyone.
